Are ignition interlock devices held to any quality standards?

All ignition interlocks must meet National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standards and comply with state-specific regulations. Intoxalock devices are rigorously tested and approved by each state in which Intoxalock operates.

If a provider is found to not be compliant in a given state, they may receive a warning. They could also be suspended from doing business in that state until they are back in compliance and in extreme cases, may be decertified all together. If they are decertified, they will have to cease all business in that given state and current customers will have to re-install with another certified provider.
